Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain, and studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid before graduating from the Politecnico di Milano with Achille Castiglioni as her mentor. Throughout her career, she has worked with a variety of well-known interior design and architecture firms.
Patricia Urquiola begins each project by empathizing with the customer who will eventually interact with her designs, a technique she learned from Achille Castiglioni, establishing the “fundamental element,” as he used to call it, the foundation of each project that always keeps her on track and accompanies her entire design process: thinking spaces or objects in relation to people.
Today, you can get to know High-End Residential Projects by Patricia Urquiola.
Lodha Lincoln Square is Patricia Urquiola’s first residential project in London. The overall design concept is a new interpretation of the classic luxury feeling of Londoner spaces giving a more contemporary touch.
A retreat on Lake Como, the penthouse is designed to make its guests live the outdoor spaces at best as the surfaces are equally divided. Interiors are designed with an ideal balance between inside and outside and the project is coherent to the precedent layout of the apartment, still giving a much more contemporary touch.
The design for this private residence in Milan stems from a request for a dedicated home. Layout and material details suggest a feminine presence, expressed by abolishing absolute contrasts, strong colour combinations, searching instead for natural materials associations. Shades include purple and powder, combined with cement, grey oak wood, onyx and drapes
The most striking features of the project, in terms of contextualization and formal solutions, are its sensory richness and the unconventional perception of time, a perception that underlies the whole architectural conception.
