1- Cape Town Villa
Katharine’s highly contemporary interior design makes this one of South Africa’s most impressive recent luxury interior designs. The architecture of the building, designed by Katharine, emphasizes its spectacular location. Full-height, wrap-around glazing lets light pour in, and stone floors flow seamlessly from the interior to the pool and terraces. The beautifully landscaped olive and citrus tree-filled gardens can be enjoyed all year round thanks to a clever, sun-reactive shading system.
2- Contemporary Doha Home
Geometric motifs pervade the impressive 10,000 sqft private family villa in Doha, Qatar. The villa captures true luxury interior design in Qatar, with a remarkable bespoke Swarovski chandelier cascading through the centre of a show-stopping solid brass and glass balustrade. Only the finest British and Qatari craftsmanship was used to create this sublime example of luxury interior design, from the four impressive geometric wall lights encasing the entrance hall columns to the bronze-inlaid doors. Solid rosewood joinery, silver-stained velum and nickel accents in the master bedroom suite joinery, a shagreen-clad billiards table, and opulently designed silk carpets with beautiful embroidered drapery create a perfectly tailored aesthetic to suit the client’s every need.
3- Discovery Bay Hong Kong
Katharine Pooley’s interior design for this impressive 6,399 sqft private residence is inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings of Hong Kong’s Discovery Bay. She uses natural elements and tones to create a fresh, light and contemporary scheme inspired by the shades of the sand and ocean, as well as the warm amber of the sunsets. Modern furnishings and extravagances, such as lavish brocade textiles and a handmade rock crystal chandelier, adorn the formal rooms. The living room wallpaper is made up of abstracted representations of rocks and cliff formations, while the fireplace is made out of powdered precious stone, metals, and resins. Katharine looked to the places and materials she loved the most while living in Asia for decorative inspiration, resulting in a deeply layered, stunning design studded with uncommon handmade pieces; the ultimate of a sumptuous holiday escape.
4- Doha Boutique
Katharine’s work was so well received by the owner of West Bay Villa that he pushed her to build a shop in Doha. Following much investigation, Katharine decided on the Gate Mall as the venue, which is widely regarded as the city’s most opulent shopping centre, with numerous high-end British companies. Katharine used complex woodwork and wall panelling to frame the vista from the entry to the end of the 3000 sqft flagship display area, emphasizing its scale and drama. Katharine employed stunning, custom-made, four-metre-tall brushed brass screens with woven platinum and gold metal mesh and hand-embroidered crystals to further divide the space into smaller room groups. These “rooms” provide a sense of expectation and excitement in the showroom, preventing it from becoming overwhelming.
5- Doha Pearl Villa
The spectacular neo-Classical Pearl Villa, located off the coast of Qatar and set against Pearl Island’s crystal-clear, sapphire waters, is the right blend of space, light, and sumptuous detail in Katharine’s latest Doha luxury interior design project. The Pearl Villa embraces the essential concepts of harmonious, seamless interior design, implemented to the highest standard, presenting the best of British workmanship in an international environment, and completing both the interior architecture, interior design, and home decorating packages.
6- French Riviera Villa
This magnificent, contemporary, private house, with its expansive bottom floor, is great for relaxing and entertaining and is located on the cliffs of the French Riviera in a highly coveted neighbourhood. The interior architecture design contains remarkable floor-to-ceiling windows from which guests can observe the large patio and pool beyond, inspired by the glorious Côte d’Azur sunshine. Clean lines, light, brilliant finishes, and lush, neutral materials create a serene, open, and airy atmosphere, while warm woods and brushed brass elements lend the opulent touch for which Katharine Pooley and her interior design studio are known. The 52 rooms, 4 restaurants, juice bar, fitness centre, spa, and swimming pool are all inspired by luxury automobile interiors.
