Julie Purpura is the Owner and Design Director of Avenir, with more than a decade of experience at the forefront of the design industry, Julie’s striking concepts have influenced Chicago’s top restaurants as well as hotels, both domestically and internationally. Avenir’s current portfolio includes a high-profile roster of discerning clients and industry leaders.

Julie’s ethos is rooted in the idea that successful design begins with a powerful concept carried through each phase of the design process. Technically grounded, Julie transforms spaces with her distinctive approach to interior architecture, driven by the pursuit of perfection and extreme attention to detail.

“Our designs stand out because they tell a good story. To find it, we dig into the history of a location and the culture of its neighborhood. Then we do the hard part—create the twist that makes people care. By focusing on concept and story first, we set a vision that gets everyone on board and guides every other decision we make.”

The team from Avenir Creative proudly says they shape the flow of spaces by carefully locating interior walls, lighting and key design elements—like millwork, furniture and architectural finishes. They present this in a thorough design package—floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, hand sketches, design imagery.

“We document every detail, from color and finishes, to plumbing fixtures and outlets, to vent grills and ceiling heights—even the stuff you can’t see. We present color renderings and final drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans and elevations, all drawn to exact scale and rendered in-house for bulletproof design integrity.”
