Wondering what to do this Summer to make it unforgetable? Build a modern city on an ancient civilization, put it at an intersection of cultures, and you get a place that is truly worth exploring. Dive into a festival, hike a mountain trail, catch a show, visit a temple, or explore a walled village. We would like to show you some really fun thing to do in Hong Kong.
A Hong Kong icon, the AQUA LUNA is one of the few remaining traditional red-sailed Chinese junk boats in the world. It is also – thankfully! – a floating bar, which takes guests on a 45-minute sail across Victoria Harbour, while they drink Champagne and soak in the city’s celebrated skyline.
With open-air restaurants lining the beach, calm seas and stunning island views, CHEUNG SHA is the perfect respite from the busyness of Hong Kong Island. It’s also home to wild water buffalo that roam the island freely. They’re completely docile unless provoked, so stroll beside these magnificent animals for a while before heading to The Beach House for a drink.
Easy to miss on a sleepy street in Sai Ying Pun, PING PONG 129 is Hong Kong’s ultimate hipster hangout. Guests are greeted into the Gintoneria’s industrial depths with an inescapable neon sign ordering you to ‘Train Your Body’ in Chinese, gold fish-bowl-glasses of gin and superb Spanish tapas.
To find an infinity pool that doesn’t cost a penny to visit, head to the hills above Tai O’s stilted fishing village. Among the MAN CHEUNG PO ROCKPOOLS is a precarious natural infinity pool, with tumbling waterfalls and perfectly crystal-clear waters, making it an uplifting alternative to the beach.
Twenty-five floors up and in the heart of Central is SEVVA, the chic al fresco bar with the best seats in the city for the ‘Symphony of Lights’ laser show, which happens every evening after dark. The bar curves around the PRINCE’S BUILDING on an elegant and expansive terrace, and it’s where the best-dressed Hongkongers lounge on low-cushioned sofas at 8pm as the sun sinks, skyscrapers light up and live jazz music plays.
The perfect fusion of retro-urban Hong Kong and 21st-century cool – the PMQ defines what Hong Kong strives to be. It is an artsy multi-use building, a kind of quirky, open-plan shopping mall set in a former police station, and it promotes creativity and art in a city driven by money, acting as host to design fairs, pop-up fashion stalls and quirky bars such as Sohofama.
