The mansion is situated in Shanghai’s Lujiazui, the city’s most lucrative business district, which is surrounded by world-famous skyscrapers. The mansion’s original divisions—the living room, bedroom, and dining room—have been re-organized in a refined manner according to the level of privacy for the layout.
The master bedroom is designed to curve lacquered walls to embrace Shanghai’s breathtaking 1850s skyline – the Bund.
The house’s owners are a young couple who advocate in Shanghai for the romantic, informal, relaxing, yet excellent French art de Vivre. Nong Studio is not only function-oriented, but they also draw inspiration from the scene and experience of their everyday lives in order to organize the space and define forms with images, as well as to create a hybrid of French art de Vivre and Shanghai Ilfeelyle in the current tempo and constraints.
In the historic French Concession region, this home is perched on the upper floor of an old house.
A Chinese husband and European wife wish to get away from it all. Nong Studio’s design philosophy incorporates this chemical interplay of Chinese and Western lifestyles. Based on long-term communication and a thorough understanding of the client’s everyday activities. The space is separated into private and public sections, as well as active and passive zones.
With a curved grey sofa by Ligne Roset, a glass tea table by Glass Italia, a couple of vintage Lady chairs re-fabricated with emerald green and houndstooth originally designed by Marco Zanuso, and plenty of orderly displayed paintings hanging on the wall, the living area’s colour palette is kept neutral, creating a balancing ambience.
The mansion, which has a history of almost a century, is located in Suzhou’s Cusu District, near the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Yi Pu. It was given the name Chao Yun Song Guan by the client. “All along feeling Cod’s lovely creations. most want to do is retire to the woods,” wrote Libai, a revered Tang Dynasty poet. Wenyu Alley, where the home is located in the heart of Suzhou’s historical district, is nothing special, but it still sports the vintage makeup of the 1900s, which is rich in cultural treasures.
