India Mahdavi is an architect and interior designer who founded her studio in 1999 and opened her first showroom in 2003; she quickly became one of the best in her field and a true design inspiration for many. Born in Iran, and based in Paris, the designer takes any material from wood, ceramic, metal and lacquer combining them into playful ad captivating interiors and magnificent home decor.

The Villa Des Alyscamps remodels the hospitable retreat to an ideal; in this mineral and spacious environment, India Mahdavi infused modernity and colour as she played with patterns, tones and textures.

Project: Ladurée Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

Ladurée Beverly Hills is a sweet garden that celebrates the mix use of the French groves and ‘Gourmandise’; India Mahdavi defined a language and a three-dimensional identity which resumes the notion of the garden with a lattice, a pastel colour pallet that alludes to maracons and a checkered floor that evokes a winter garden.

Designed for Jean-Francois Piége, the Thoumieux was conceived to be a private dining room, it is an epicurean and joyful place in which the atmosphere is reminiscent of Chabrol’s or Sautet’s films.

Project: I Love Paris by Guy Martin

This airport restaurant was conceived in order to maintain the feeling that we were still in Paris whilst overlooking the runway to the aircraft procession. Ensuing this collaboration with the starred chef Guy Martin, emerged a warm, delicate and luxurious interlude at the heart of the terminal 2E and received the award for Best Airport Restaurant in the World from FAB Awards 2016.

Project: Le Germain, Paris

Le Germain was India Mahdavi‘s first project in Paris, opening its doors in 2009; the restaurant revives the Parisian bistro creatively and recreationally with a pixelated floor and a graphically illuminated ceiling, anis green and orange tones around a 5-meter yellow metal statue.

With a soft palette of lavender, grey and dune tones, the Connaught appears new and timeless. Having reused the hotel’s furniture, India Mahdavi reupholstered all these elements to reveal a contemporary vision.

In this hotel, India Mahdavi transposed tradition into a joyful ad colour statement; the ambience created from the selection of textiles to the wallpaper, breathe a new life into an emblematic place.

India Mahdavi‘s interiors and furniture are really energetic for she uses colours and shapes that are defined by her own creative and imaginative world. She has already conceived many places, bars, restaurants, retails, clubs and hotels – from the Hotel Du Cloitre in Arles or the Monte Carlo Beach Hotel in Monaco-, to the Gallery at Sketch in London or Ladurée in Los Angeles and Tokyo, India Mahdavi imposes herself on the contemporary scene in a singular, eclectic and nomadic manner, celebrating an oriental pop in the west.
