Tom Scheerer gives great emphasis on furniture planning and spatial relationship, as well as the harmony between colour and texture, taking a keen appreciation for art. Albeit not having any issue with any style, Tom Scheerer prefers to use all aspects of interior design within the context of what he calls to be ‘relaxed modernism‘.

Tom Scheerer graduated from The Cooper Union with a degree in architecture in 1985 and formed a design partnership with Jeffrey Bilhuber; the interiors designed by these two incredible interior designers quickly came to fame by being published in The New York Times Magazine, New York, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Town & Country and other national publications. In 1995, as mentioned earlier, Tom Scheerer formed his own company and his works included recently completed projects in New York, East Hampton, Nantucket and the Bahamas.

Over the years, Tom Scheerer created several homes on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. His historically accurate restorations have preserved two neglected 18th-century coral stone houses. Other island projects include a colonial-style hilltop home and the renovation of a large 1950’s villa in a colonial-style consonant with Harbour Island’s character. 

Tom Scheerer‘s work is featured in Elle Décor, House & Garden, Architectural Digest, and House Beautiful, which includes him annually in its list of America’s ‘Top 100’ Designers.
