On 3 March, Regent Street’s got a little sweeter, as the Hotel Café Royal opened London’s first dessert restaurant. English pastry chef Sarah Barber mixes imagination and skill to serve up a plethora of treats across a selection of tasting menus and optional wine pairings.

Celebrating the European tradition of café culture and as the only café fronting London’s vibrantRegent Street, by day The Café offers the finest breakfasts, light lunches, patisseries, afternoon teas, hot drinks and wines.In the evening, from 3 March the dessert restaurant  features a selection of exquisite tasting experiences all served with optional wine pairing. Each offering from the menu is highlighting Sarah’s imagination, as well as her contemporary, playful style.

The striking design of The Café, featuring Siena marble echoes the heritage of Hotel Café Royal as London’s favoured destination for epicureans and intellectuals.

The ‘Sarah in Wonderland’ menu will feature five courses including preliminary savoury dishes – such as ‘Chicken Foie’ with quince and brioche – to prepare the palette for pudding. To follow are ‘Alice in Wonderland’-inspired desserts, like the ‘Queen of Hearts’, comprising raspberries, champagne and roses; and ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’, which factors a Snickers and a chocolate malt shake.

A three-course ‘Childhood Memories’ menu will also be available, made up of Barber’s take on nostalgic favourites, like ‘Rhubarb & Custard’ and ‘Jaffa Cakes’. The ‘Pick-n-Mix’ menu will allow guests to curate a selection of four dishes, with both savoury and sweet options. Selected wine flights include sparkling Prosecco di Valdobbiadene, Château Roumieu and Sauternes.

Sarah Barber has over 18 years experience within the pastry Industry. She had several Head Pastry chef roles at Me London Hotel, Yauatcha part of Hakkasan group & Dinner By Heston Blummental.She previously Worked at Mandarin Oriental, The Ritz and the Connaught Hotel. Her Career enabled Sarah to work in the finest establishments at 5-star hotels and 2 Michelin Star Restaurants, as well as Patisserie shops.

In 2015, Sarah Babber produced her first Pastry Book “Patisserie Perfection”.
