Fall is coming. And with it, a new opportunity to do a home decor makeover with fall 2015 trends. We went on searching and eventually we found 6 fall decorating ideas to apply now. Update your home with one of these key new fall interiors trends.

1. Mood Memphis

‘Inspiration for the autumn collection comes from the iconic Memphis design movement,’ says Polly Dickens, creative director at Habitat. Graphic monochrome prints are still going strong, but this season they are given a boost with the addition of pops of primary blues, reds and yellows – neatly referencing the influential 1980s architecture and design movement, Memphis. Pioneered by boutique store Darkroom, this look is now hitting the High Street.

2. Glam 70s

Forget hippies and think Halston. High-end 1970s interior design is having a long overdue re-appreciation. The look is all gilt and glamour; sinuous, amorphic lines; bold optical prints and luxe textiles – not forgetting a witty nod to disco en route. ‘Going for 70s-style glamour? Then the words low, loungey, and louche should inform all your decorating decisions,’ says Jonathan Adler, designer, author and potter.

3. Rustic Textures

‘Traditional methods and the use of natural materials with a simple, understated aesthetic make for a look that has a casual, comfortable sensibility,’ says Sue Roberts, design director at House of Fraser. The materials of the moment are totally au naturel. Think worn woods, weighty pottery, natural stones, hand-blown glassware, chunky knits and slubby tweeds. This is classic country living updated for urban hideouts.

4. Going Global

‘This season, design inspiration has come from across the globe to create a collection that is rich in colour, pattern and texturem’ explains Stephanie Chen, director at Marks & Spencer home. Interiors’ on-going love affair with the global design village shows no sign of abating anytime soon. This look is about mixing up prints and pattern, colours and shapes, from a whole world of influences, whether that’s Mittel-European folk motifs or Ottoman Empire silhouettes.

5. Story of the Blues

From Wedgwood to sapphire, blues are the new grey. Soothing, calming and with the benefit of looking good in our northern light, blue is the perfect way to add easy colour to a room scheme. For inspiration, look to Little Greene’s brand new blue colour chart, with its capsule collection of 21 perfect shades. ‘Blue covers a huge spectrum, from cool to warm, silvery to earthy, so there’s a blue for everyone,’ says David Mottershead, managing director of the decor company.

6. Masculine Mid-Century Modern Furniture

‘This look is about a demand for striking pieces that are beautifully designed and use the best materials to stand the test of time,’ says Pip Prinsloo, design manager at John Lewis home. Think of Don Draper’s office in his Madison Avenue heyday and you’ll get this look. While the shapes reference the delicate, spindly-legged, footprint of mid-century modern furniture, it is made more masculine through the materials it is made in: heavyweight dark woods, marble and brass.
