Peruri Design Company is a multi-disciplinary design firm offering a full range of interior design services. Growing up in India, Sindhu Perurl recalls her grandfather, a textile merchant unfurling exquisite hand-loomed sarees blended from silk, cotton, and metallic threads. The vivid colours, bold prints, and ornate gold embroidery inspired her love for design and craftsmanship.

This lounge is where the clients’ and their guests enjoy an aperitif and amuse-bouche. The bar is a modern mix of natural elements and earthy textures that give it tremendous warmth. The layered, neutral palette enforces restraint while custom-designed lighting adds a touch of luxe and glam.
There’s a sense of discovery as one observes objects and surfaces such as the bar console fabricated from centuries-old fossilized wood sourced in the Italian Alps, the fretwork-like design of the floating shelves or accents of hand-painted wallpaper in the niche and ceiling. Seating in the room is not only conducive to spark conversation, but it also draws the clients’ attention to visually impactful and intriguing design elements throughout the space.
When a blended family needed more space for their 5 teenagers, the firm began an extensive and complicated addition of a basement to an existing home in Palo Alto. After a year and a half of construction and chaos, the result is a home that is airy and light, filled with spaces that are youthful, fresh and modern.
Kids and adults can enjoy spaces together or apart with lounge and dining located on both levels. The basement lounge area doubles as a media room with a drop-down projector hidden in the ceiling. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms were seamlessly integrated into the expanded footing. Art and Furnishings throughout are a mix of high-end and low-end, old and new, modern and eclectic to fit the lifestyle of this dynamic family.
The Post Restaurant and bar is the new and stylish result of the two combined spots and sprawls almost 5000 sq. ft. Peruri Design Company was hired for the complete redesign of its interiors.
The first order of business and the owner’s priority was to create a megabar area with a lot of seating. The countertop is made from Dekton for its resilience. Wainscoat panels are custom designed as we wanted a twist on this classic element and splashed them with a rich Blue hue. Warm Grey tones, neutral-coloured walls and cool light fixtures round out the mix.
A young family in Los Altos Hills engaged me to update their Great Room; living, dining and foyer. Separated just by a glass staircase, this tri-functional space felt disjointed and outdated. The requirement was to fully transform and furnish this into one entertainment space with plenty of seating.
Soft pretty shades are contrasted with rich textures like Shagreen and Inlay work. Smooth white lacquered furniture and other Objets D’ Art are striking against the pink-hued walls.

Some of the angled bookshelves in the library have wallpapered backs and some are lacquered. This harmony in asymmetry is carried throughout the space. The dining room is also curated with pieces that are special and custom-made. The outdated fireplace was replaced and the modern surround features beautiful natural stone mosaic topped by a custom-designed brass mantel.
This country estate situated atop a hill is anything but shabby. A home for a family with young children and riding enthusiasts. Art, antiques and sculpture are layered upon comfortable and beautiful basics. This home is elegant and has sumptuous furnishings throughout.
For the Woodside Decorators Showcase, picked the most difficult room in the house and turned it into a swanky men’s bar inspired by the prohibition era speakeasy. A before image shows the dilapidated condition of the cabinetry, counters, floors and flannel wallpaper. The cabinetry was stripped and given fresh coats of rich Ebony stain. The backs of cabinetry were mirrored to enlarge the room and add a reflective element. An antique bust on a custom water feature pedestal crowns the room.
Peruri Design Company was called upon to assist during the construction process in creating a cohesive look for the entire home. A palette of blues, greys and whites takes precedence, accented by some strong hues that enliven the space. As the couple has young kids, furnishings are a mixture of high end, low end and comfortable without compromising style.
Large estate, the rooms are warm and inviting and comfortably proportioned. This home is elegant and luxurious with an erudite blend of antiques and an impressively curated art collection.
