Fox-Nahem Associates is a personal, client oriented firm that acts in all stages from architecture to bed linens. The brand’s body of work is recognized both inside and out of the United States. In its work legacy, the design of the former home of Jacqueline Kennedy can be found.
Fox-Nahem’s design signature lies in the ability to understand their client’s ideas, needs and individual tastes. The results are luxuriously comfortable, elegant, and livable homes. Joe Nahem was born and raised in New York City. In his early 20s, he created the business with the late Tom Fox. With more than 30 years of experience, Nahem currently works with artists, craftspeople and artisans from all over the world to order to create the most fascinating projects.
Here are some of Fox-Nahem’s most stunning projects.
Fox-Nahem worked closely with the owners in turning this imperial, six-story structure – originally designed by architect Stanford White in the beginning of the 20th century – into an intimate home, preserving outstanding details like the stairwell balustrade and re-creating the ones that had not survived. In addition to the historically faithful reconstruction brought back to its original glory, the house retains an intimate feel; it is gracious without being grand.
Having a 10 week deadline, Fox-Nahem was able to renovate and decorate completely a 1980s beach house including 7 new bathrooms and an entire new master suite. In addition to the renovation and furnishing, Fox-Nahem also helped to choose accessories, tableware, linens, pots and even pool toys for the kids making the house equally suitable for active family life as well as large-scale entertaining.
Located in a new Chelsea high-rise, the two-story apartment offers amazing proportions rarely seen in postwar construction. The designers were involved in all aspects of the new construction including window selections, specifying all plaster walls, kitchen design, bathrooms, floating fireplace, custom designed bronze and leather bar.
Joe Nahem knows a thing or two about decorating in the fast lane. More than two decades of experience have taught him that getting it fast and getting it right need not be mutually exclusive. The Pittsburgh home he renovated for long time clients Bill and Debbie Demchak – a project completed in six months–is a persuasive case study in the art of on-time delivery.
Collaborating with a growing young family on their fourth project together, Fox-Nahem managed to transform a ho-hum, standard spec-house on Long Island’s East End and give it personality and wit, including a redesigned kitchen and bathrooms as well as an expanded living room and master suite. In addition to the architectural overhaul (assisted by Alveary Architecture), FN designed much of the upholstery and complemented the spaces with unusual vintage pieces.
Working on an 8000 sq ft duplex in one of New York City’s most venerated and legendary Park Avenue buildings, FN was put to the ultimate test by completing a total gut renovation including decorating and furnishing, within only 5 months. The clients, a young family with a major modern art collection, had worked with FN on several previous projects.
