The renowned London Design Week is almost there and Brabbu brings you today an article about the new Design Museum Shop located in Kensington High Street. More good news for the design lovers who are in Uk capital for the London Design Week!
Designed by architect John Pawson, the Design Museum Shop serves as a taster for the new Design Museum, which is due to open in its new site nearby on 24 November who also has been created by this remarkable british achitect.
The Design Museum Shop presents a curated edit of design classics, collections based on current exhibitions and an ever-changing array of design-focused objects from around the world.
Take a look at the new Design Museum shop and get inspired by its stunning interiors!
“The Design Museum shop reflects the values of the museum itself,” said Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic.
The interiors of the shop aim to reflect the aesthetic of the upcoming museum, says the Design Museum, and use materials such as stained oak, glass and terrazzo, and Dieter Rams-designed shelving.
The Design Museum Shop interiors also includes a shop fixture by Swiss furniture company Vitra Retail.
The shop’s 76 sq m space proves that the size size isn’t everything, and it packs a well designed punch.
Small put perfectly formed, the space hints at what’s to come from the new Design Museum, as both have been subject to the minimalist eye.
This uk design store will work as the ambassador of the Design Museum that will be more than three times the size of the old museum, and will include three floors of gallery spaces, a library and archive, a learning centre with workshop space, two events spaces and an auditorium for talks and seminars. There will also be a café, restaurant, film studio, meeting rooms and offices, and another smaller shop based within the museum itself.
If you don’t know what to do in London and if you are a design lover, don’t forget to visit this uk Design shop!
