The top designer has no attachment to things. Thanks to a successful auction of all its furniture and objects, he has got to buy this house. He ran out of furniture and started from scratch.

The property, located in the heart of Madrid, was purchased about seven years ago. With a thousand square meter, and initially had another floor -wich in Lorenzo’s head the idea of putting it all together was already dancing- but an antique Barcelonan men, beat him to buy him that fraction, and he agreed.

Castillo, keeping a good portion, decided to live his life in a more gentle intimate area, inspired by the classic Hollywood cinema of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s; also in art, books and architecture.

The staircase entrance to the house is decorated with a collection of engravings from the XVIII century. The lamp was acquired in the famous Maison Bagues in Paris.

When the Spanish interior designer started mixing styles and periods, very little was done in his country, and it was precisely this that led him to the ecstasy of inspiration. Is Spain in the XVI y XVII centuries, is Velázquez, Ribera, Sánchez Coello, Pantoja de la Cruz, Carreno de Miranda, Goya. The Spanish fashion of the time and its colors represent the maximum elegance for him.

To illuminate this room -which has no natural light- Lorenzo has placed mirrors forming a geometry that creates a kind of light box.

Thanks to this motley inspiration, many people asked if this house/shop and if inside “stuffs” are for sale. Castillo’s success translates into just one thing: when he buys for him, he does it with a more decorative than antique eyes. He buys what he likes.
