Richard Petit and Stephen Hunt founded The Archers<\/strong><\/span><\/em>, an AD100 firm<\/strong><\/span><\/em>, in 2002. The team\u2019s various areas of interest and combined skills result in a very collaborative design approach<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1- Hill House Two<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Archers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The complex tile work and carved plaster embellishments provided an unusual backdrop<\/strong><\/span><\/em> for the customers\u2019 mostly late-twentieth-century furnishings and art collections<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. The house had undergone a big makeover prior to their purchase, and some questionable selections had been made, such as uneven flagstone kitchen floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2- Hill House Three<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this project was to create a completely functional second house<\/strong><\/span><\/em> capable of hosting huge events and overnight visitors but owing to zoning restrictions, we couldn\u2019t add a single square foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3- Hill House Four<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The new house<\/strong><\/span><\/em> had experienced several design interventions over the years, resulting in a number of uncomfortable rooms and architectural vocabulary<\/strong><\/span><\/em>. It was essentially a modest post and beam construction encased in fresh stucco, glass, and metal from the 1940s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4- Hill House Five<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From a little two-story mid-century house<\/strong><\/span><\/em> that was completely and tastefully restored, only the dusty pink concrete block central fireplace core, steel beams, and window frames remain. The intervention\u2019s purpose was to bring the house back to life as a mid-century \u2018lost jewel,\u2019 while leaving an as little trace as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5- Hill House Six<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The main goal of this Hollywood Hills home<\/strong><\/span><\/em> was to provide a more welcoming environment for a savvy young art collector<\/strong><\/span><\/em> and his growing family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6- Thirty Third Floor Apartment<\/em> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Stern\/Candela inspired the architectural interventions<\/strong><\/span><\/em>, which were based on materials present in the building\u2019s wide public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A post and beam framework interacts with new brickwork throughout the interior trim features. White is painted in a variety of subtle tints and finishes on most wood and masonry surfaces, ranging from dead-flat to high-gloss lacquer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
