ZEST Architecture is an architecture and design<\/a> studio located in Barcelona, and today we present fantastic modern room ideas<\/span><\/em><\/strong> taken from their wonderful projects. It was founded in 2009 by Dutch architect Co Govers, who holds a Masters in Architecture from TU Delft with a specialization in sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At ZEST they are experts in combining sustainability with elegance, which is why their projects always stand out.
They use their knowledge of traditional and cutting-edge construction techniques and materials to design<\/a> buildings with improved indoor climate control, minimising the need for heating, cooling and artificial lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Villa CP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In a historic stone edifice, Villa CP is a modern<\/a> luxury boutique hotel. The contrast between old and new, which was the underlying principle for the building, is present in every aspect, and the design\u2019s coherence, as well as the use of materials such as wood, Corten steel, clay plaster, and polished concrete, have resulted in a minimalist yet warm result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Duplex Gr\u00e0cia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Two apartments in a historic manufacturing building in Gracia become one comfortable family dwelling, complete with a music room, library, and study. The stairwell organizes the areas all around it, morphing into storage, an exhibition case, and a study all at once. Everywhere you touch, solid oak is used, ensuring that this element only grows in beauty with time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Apartment 1 L\u2019Escala<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For a Belgian client, this property with outstanding views of the Mediterranean was totally renovated. This apartment has to be modified to make it accessible to people with disabilities. It now features underfloor heating and cooling and new windows that entirely block out Tramontana storm sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Casa Creueta<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This 1950s house, created by a local artist, has deteriorated significantly. The new owners want a total makeover, maintaining the lovely elements while renovating the rest. The end result is a beautiful residence with an A++ rating that overlooks all of Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Retreat near the Pyrenees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this project is to turn a wrecked farmhouse near Sau\u2019s water reservoir into a pleasant hideaway for a family and their guests (friends and paying guests). Both the kitchen\/dining room and the living room have double-height ceilings and pivoting doors. The wood-clad box that houses the upper master bedroom hangs in this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Modern Room Ideas \u2013 Apartment 2 L\u2019Escala<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

They converted a 19th-century flat in Barcelona\u2019s old centre into a roomy pied-a-terre for two Swedish art lovers, complete with two bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, and an open kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZEST\u2019s facelift has added more light and room. It now feels extremely luxurious thanks to new finishes, baths, kitchen, heating, and conditioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This contemporary home is intended for a couple looking for a getaway that celebrates the site\u2019s stunning vistas and seclusion. They created a house that resembles a pavilion, with the sloping roof serving as a magnificent sculptural element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design of a fully new family house on a hillside with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea is the focus of this project. The structure is built as two simple rectangular volumes spun in opposing directions, one on top of the other, to meet the clients\u2019 demands for a highly modern, clean, and minimalist aesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
