In 1927, construction on Columbus\u2019s most prominent landmark was completed as LeVeque Tower rose high above the city. Stately and magnificent, the then-tallest building in between New York and Chicago proclaimed to the world that the city of Columbus was modern, growing and full of civic pride. Nearly a century later, The Gettys Group<\/em> partnered with\u00a0First Hospitality Group\u00a0to elevate this historic star of the Columbus skyline as a new beacon of hospitality. To develop a compelling brand story, the richly detailed architecture of the building provided ample inspiration. Adorned with astrological motifs in its Art Deco murals and terra cotta panels, LeVeque Tower\u2019s rich history led our branding team to identify the tower as the star in the Columbus skyline, a literal \u201cbeacon of hospitality.\u201d\u00a0The shining star atop the logo\u00a0beckons\u00a0east and west, welcoming visitors to both Columbus and the state of Ohio by\u00a0referring to the star motifs in the flag of each. Unexpected and captivating contrasts are central to the brand identity: the day and the night, the historic and the contemporary, the luminous and the richly dark, the bold and the intimate \u2013 reaching for the stars while keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground. This idea manifests in sweet and savory bites delivered during turndown service, day-to-night transformations in uniforms and fixtures that don\u2019t just emit light, but also cast beautiful shadows. The celestial story continues through the interior design, leading the guest on a journey from the\u00a0dazzling entrance to a serene room or suite. Stepping out of\u00a0a\u00a0low passage into the spacious lobby atrium, the guest\u00a0is greeted\u00a0by the\u00a0revelation of a 20-foot-tall chandelier \u2014 an abstracted constellation that\u00a0evokes the Art Deco history of the building but with a contemporary sensibility. The carpet and wall coverings also harken back to that era through patterns with the same precise and balanced geometry as the tower itself. The guest room is a retreat from the energy of the public space. With tone-on-tone textures and a combination of modern and traditional pieces, the residential quality\u00a0of the space ensures a stay that\u2019s soothing and elegant without being stuffy. Artwork depicts the constellation Pisces in homage to the astrological sign of one of the structure\u2019s architects. Even after setting guest expectations sky high with such a lofty promise, Hotel LeVeque has still continually gone above and beyond. After opening, it quickly rose to the top 10% in guest satisfaction within Marriott\u2019s Autograph Collection, and occupancy rates have steadily exceeded projections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Gettys Group Companies worked with the Renaissance brand and Carey Watermark Investors Incorporated (CWI) to reimagine the first floor, guestrooms, corridors and port cochere of Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel as a local destination for Chicagoans. With a cost of $27 Million, this was Phase one of a two-phase project. With familiarity of the Renaissance brand pillars and the existing hotel design, we were brought on at the outset of this project to conceptualize further business development opportunities.\u00a0Both our design and consulting groups were involved in providing solutions that created additional flexible meeting space in the Suites and added seven keys to the property. Behind-the-scenes areas were redesigned to optimize workflow for better guest experiences in dining areas and private event spaces. The immediate result has translated into additional revenue streams from the enhanced lobby bar and the future rooftop venue opening in Spring 2016. Located at the busy corner of Wacker Drive and State Street, the Renaissance Hotel is nestled among some of the most iconic downtown Chicago edifices and overlooks the Chicago River. Our design concept expresses the hotel\u2019s urban identity and integrates it with a strong sense of discovery and movement by using photography, curated spaces and Chicago-symbolic art pieces. This concept is reflected for the entire duration of the guests\u2019 journey through the space, and begins immediately upon their arrival onto the property. Scenes of travel, exploration and performance are looped on two oversized screens flanking the entrance at the porte-cochere. Once inside, guests find themselves in a lobby with a new open floor plan and higher ceilings. A variety of seating areas with comfortable, unique furnishings are intended to inspire spontaneous social moments and are situated among discoverable art installations. A taxi cab mural composed entirely of pencil stubs featured in one; a three-dimensional bird\u2019s-eye diorama map of the surrounding block on another. Turn a corner and guests will find a skyline composed of whitewashed, hard-bound novels stacked in the Library, scribbled over with graffiti of a swirling gray cloud. Nothing in the space is static or repetitive. The finishes invoke the juxtaposition of refined and gritty city textures: smooth, clean woods contrasted against raw, complex patterns; a neutral color palette set against metallic bronze, with pops of bold green; and a wide variety of materials used everywhere. \u201cThe design is more about the moments we are creating with fabrics, artwork, texture and the character of the pieces, rather than about picking a color or colors to use,\u201d says Chris McDonough, Senior Design Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> The Edwin, An Autograph Collection Hotel<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Edwin Hotel\u00a0is a purpose-built addition to the Bluff View Art District, proudly standing where the Walnut Street Bridge connects downtown Chattanooga to the North Shore. Named for the famed bridge engineer Edwin Thacher, the hotel serves as a literal connector\u2014from downtown to the North Shore\u2014and figurative one\u2014uniting guests and the community. The thoughtful and unique execution also resulted in the connection of this Chattanooga hotel to one of finest lifestyle hotel brands in the world, Marriott\u2019s Autograph Collection. The brand\u2019s touch-points, service and environments embody a modern Southern point of view, a unique sense of style, a spirited sensibility and sincere hospitality. We ingrained a spirited local connection by curating art from area artists and designing spaces that entire community will be drawn to visit. The environment is enlivened by the beautiful and adventurous natural surroundings\u2014whether you\u2019re taking in the ranging view from the rooftop bar, Whiskey Thief, or you\u2019re enjoying the reflection of the sculptural entry signage in the water below. The guest rooms are layered and luscious, romantically comfortable with an array of deliberately contrasting details both familiar and surprising. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> The Blackstone, An Autograph Collection Hotel<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After opening\u00a0in 1910,\u00a0The Blackstone Hotel\u00a0quickly became the most highly regarded place to stay in Chicago.\u00a0Known for guests both famous and infamous,\u00a0this South Loop destination played host to many a late-night meeting dense with cigar smoke. The\u00a0interior design renovation\u00a0of this historic landmark brings a new perspective to\u00a0reflect\u00a0its new place in Marriott\u2019s Autograph Collection. We brought out the beauty of the space in a way that pays respect to the storied\u00a0past while looking boldly to\u00a0its future\u00a0as an engaged leader and gathering space in its neighborhood\u2014no mere\u00a0hotel lobby, but the living room of the South Loop.\u00a0 This duality manifests in more than pairing the hotel\u2019s past with its future: national leaders staying in the Presidential Suite\u00a0are a foil to\u00a0the less-than-lawful gatherings of mobsters in the Smoke-Filled Room; sun-drenched guestrooms overlooking Lake Michigan\u00a0contrast\u00a0moody and\u00a0intimate event spaces. Through careful design selections, these dichotomies build a compelling whole \u2014 no smoke and mirrors required. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Million Dollar Views<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Gettys Group Companies worked with SB Architects to design a new construction in Haikou, Hainan Island, China. The three-story duplex consists of 54 detached coastal cottages which can be leased as guest units. Inspired by the breathtaking views and vistas offered by this waterfront location, the Visuan Villas harken back to playful summer holidays. The Gettys Interior Design team\u00a0designed the villas to be a blend of \u201cAsia Modern,\u201d each with its own distinct character and areas of differentiation. We set them amid meandering waterways to give each guest a waterfront experience, providing spaces that blur the line between indoor and outdoor living. The residences blend masculine and feminine details through structured and soft, organic details. We created a warm yet contemporary feel, designed with local, sustainable materials that gently enhance the natural aesthetics of the region to include a modern residential design expression. Gettys created the interior design for three show villas on two lots on the site. The show villas are casual resort spaces which use natural materials in modern and artistic ways. These villas blend warm wood textures with rich colors that create dramatic living experiences. This project team reflected the great partnership between Gettys and SB Architects. Initially targeted to be hotel villas, these residential villas will go to market as for-sale vacation residential units catering to the Asian travel market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Marriott Coutyard \/ Residence Inn<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Gettys Group Companies was hired by the ownership of the tallest hotel building in North America to work on two separate hotels within the building, The Courtyard and a Residence Inn. Of the 68-story building, The Courtyard accounted for 378 rooms on 27 floors, and the Residence Inn accounted for 261 rooms on 28 floors. The Gettys Procurement team\u00a0arranged for boutique-style custom furnishings, finishes and equipment, because\u00a0this project did not use the Courtyard or Residence Inn schemes. Built-in case goods were essential for these NYC guestrooms. Our Procurement team managed to find an Allentown, PA supplier\u00a0who was able to travel to the city. Our creative problem solving and coordination for this NYC delivery allowed us to ensure everything went in on time. The official hotel of the 2014 Super Bowl, the Courtyard management wanted as much of the project completed ahead of the event. It was not possible to complete everything in that timeframe, so our team used their creativity to source alternatives to ensure the hotel would open on time to welcome their guests for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \"BB-Coveted<\/a>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Kardan Land Europark Serviced Apartments<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\"The<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Gettys Group Companies imported luxury European living to the Chinese market with our design for the five buildings that comprise The Serviced Apartments. Located in Dalian, Dongguan, these residences feature 5-star hotel-style service with high-end amenities, including a health club. Our work on the project encompassed the planning and design concepts for all public and residential floors, including the lobby, lounges, library, pool and multiple showflat units. The Gettys Interior Design team\u00a0created a sophisticated ambiance with a compilation of fine details in this very modern high-rise building renovation. We developed a serene, ultra-clean feel with contrasting neutral tones, wood details and textured materials such as linens and marbles. Glass partitions afforded longer views and brighter rooms, and custom-fit furniture enhanced the contemporary sleekness of the spaces. In the rooms, subtle details included recessed pulls, bathroom windows and full-height headboard walls with colored glass panels. Cove lighting behind upholstered walls worked brilliantly in tandem with these touches to create a big impact. Working out proper unit layouts for the curved perimeter walls was especially challenging. We innovated solutions to maximize the space with floor plans that emphasized the full height windows, creating an attractive and unique residence firmly rooted in the now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> The Mayflower, An Autograph Collection Hotel<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Gettys Group Companies renovated The Mayflower Hotel, Washington D.C.\u2019s largest luxury hotel. We reimagined every aspect of this iconic hospitality destination, from the marble flooring to the artwork on the walls in order to create a signature autograph experience. The Gettys Interior Design team\u00a0refined the space with timeless relevance and incorporated the signature experiences of the Autograph Collection. We created a neutral palette of greys and whites with accents of jewel tones as a theme for the new carpeting, furniture, lighting, wallpaper and other finishes throughout the hotel. Each guestroom is an extension this crisp palette, with further accents of purple to present a stately tone. The guestrooms feature sleek contemporary finishes, vibrant art and vintage-inspired black-and-white marble bathrooms. Custom wallpaper with artistic signatures from past notable guests such as John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Sophia Loren, Amelia Earhart and many others adorns the walls. We created a custom ergonomic work area, as well as all-new headboards, side tables, seating and other furniture. As a result, the Mayflower Hotel renovation honors past, present and future guests in this beautiful capitol city in comfort, luxury and style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \"Ebook<\/a>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> The Thompson Hotel<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Working on behalf of Commune Hotels, The Gettys Group Companies had the opportunity to collaborate with British design icon\u00a0Tara Bernerd, the creative visionary behind this hotel. Our Interior Design and\u00a0strategic Procurement\u00a0initiatives facilitated her design work to transform the former Sutton Place into a hip new branded hotel, The Thompson Chicago. The Gettys Procurement team\u00a0was challenged by unusually small spaces in the hotel\u2019s design, requiring us to utilize\u00a0extremely creative methods for having\u00a0custom furniture pieces engineered to last. Additionally, we had to imagine innovative approaches for getting these pieces into the property, due to delivery space and timing contraints. Doing so allowed the loft-inspired design to take root, complete with the warmth of American woods and clean, mid-century lines throughout the hotel. We were able to harness our cross-disciplinary breadth of Design and Procurement acumen to source and innovate technically creative acquisition methods, resulting in a luxurious and hip hospitality addition to the Chicago market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Peninsula Hong Kong<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Peninsula Hong Kong launched its renovation plan in observance of its 85th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary in April 2013. Faced with uneven floor levels, almost no two rooms being alike and a hodge-podge of existing finishes, this two-phase enhancement successfully produced a new classical\/contemporary experience for the 300 guestrooms and suites, and a subtle Oriental chic ambiance that invites guests to re-live the glamour of a by-gone era of travel. The teams also seamlessly integrated next-generation technology throughout the property, creating a space that is truly bespoke in every area. The Gettys Interior Design team\u00a0worked with the Peninsula Hong Kong\u2019s in-house team to transform its flagship property from the \u201cGrande Dame of the Far East\u201d of 1928 to a definitive model for the future of luxury. With this grand renovation, the ownership hoped to exceed even modern hospitality standards and cement the hotel\u2019s position as a leader of global first-class hospitality. As with all of our work, this was a true labor of love for The Gettys Group Companies team. Meticulous attention to design detail, construction methodology and quality control process in the furniture design, development and production process created something remarkable in this hotel. The design team drew inspiration from practical yet distinctive touches present in contemporary yachts, luxury motorcars and private jets. Dated elements such as the brocade and gilt chandeliers were replaced with cream upholstery, vintage luggage-inspired drawer handles and leather-finished wardrobes. Copper-colored Chinese-inspired ink paintings were hung on the walls to marry the past with the future, creating a special, timeless feel. We designed the suites to make a big impression. Contemporary furniture imbued with Asian flair, crystal chandeliers and silk upholstery offer elements of grandeur to the space while maintaining the classical contemporary aesthetic. We finished the opulent interiors with Persian rugs and case goods featuring traditional Chinese gold leaf hand-painting. Located on the 26th<\/sup>\u00a0floor, the Peninsula Suite has majestic views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline. A double-height living room with floor-to-ceiling windows and luxurious upholstered furniture gives guests a refined space to entertain or unwind. The Marco Polo Suite was the original presidential suite. Its redesign retained the interior architectural language, with blonde wood paneling and cornice details, but added a refresh to the classic Peninsula feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \"E-book<\/a>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Gettys Group \u2013<\/em> Westin Abu Dhabi<\/strong>\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Gettys | BLU\u00a0served as the Interior Designers and Construction Administration to all of the public areas for The Westin Abu Dhabi. This new build was created to be the hospitality heart of the world-renowned Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The design incorporates modernity and extravagance, and includes a luxury spa along with 172 guestrooms and suites. The Gettys | BLU\u00a0team\u00a0sought to exemplify wellness, a pillar of the Westin brand. The resulting design delivers a soothing organic ambiance through texture, water features and warm-hued accents in a softly luminous space. The exteriors are emboldened with chiseled stone facades. Contemporary interiors use rusticated gold limestone and petrified and reclaimed wood. Regional cultural values are evident, and are carried through the relaxing spaces, offering beautifully expansive views for guests. Our team\u2019s innovative work was recognized by the \u201c2013 Best of Category: Hotels\u201d by the International Design Association, and by the International Hotel, Motel & Restaurants Show\u2019s (IHMRS) 2012 Gold Key Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
