Vincent Van Duysen<\/em><\/span><\/strong> took a degree in Architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint Lucas, Ghent. Worked in Milan collaborating with Aldo Cibi, and with Jean De Meulder in Belgium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vincent Van Duysen Architects <\/span><\/strong>was established in 1990, and today has grown into a team of more than twenty collaborators. Projects range from product design for numerous international brands, over commercial to bigger scale architectural projects, with a focus on high-end residences, located spread across Europe, Middle-East and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original VVD II residence project (2001\u20132003) turned an old notary house into the personal \u2018sanctuary\u2019 for Vincent Van Duysen himself \u2013 a retreat to which he could withdraw from hectic professional and urban life.\u00a0 <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The former Bowery Lane Theatre, which became an Off-Broadway theatre was originally a bank building with a cast-iron fa\u00e7ade constructed from 1873 to 1874, designed by Henry Engelbert in the Italianate style.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

From the start, there was a definite relationship between architecture, interior and products design, becoming a driving force in creating projects with subtle transitions between these disciplines, combined with a spatial design that always searches the essence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Vincent<\/a>
Residence DRD is a duplex penthouse with sea view on the top floor of an apartment building at the Belgian coast. This weekend home is designed with the idea to have a place to unwind as well as to relax and be together with family and friends. The open plan has a large seating area turned to the sea. The dining area and kitchen are directed to the terrace at the rear.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"Vincent<\/a>
Inspired by the beautiful panoramic view of the River Scheldt and the bluestone along the grey quayside, the project is arranged around the axes of its volumes and breathtaking views, allowing each zone to take advantage of this spectacular location. The concept of the project was to create an \u2018urban loft\u2019 that retains the rawness of construction, yet encompasses a complete finish and feeling of comfort. The concrete ceiling and rough timber refer to the historical warehouses, which have an architectural presence in the surrounding quay and the city.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The use of pure and tactile materials results in a clear and timeless design. An approach that covers all aspects, with respect to context and tradition, within which the senses and physical experience of the space, materials and light place the integrity of the user at its core.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Situated in an Antwerp suburb bordering the Den Brandt park, the original residence was built in the 1920s, as part of a series of formal upper-class cottage villas with Art Deco elements.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Functionality, durability and comfort are the prime components of Vincent Van Duysen<\/strong>\u2018s work; an architectural language which is not shy of aesthetics nonetheless resists fashion and trends.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
