She enter the\u00a0Ecole\u00a0de L\u2019Union Centrale de Arts Decoratifs in 1920, aged 17 years old and graduate in 1925, one of his teacher had been one of the master of\u00a0Arts D\u00e9coratifs, Henri Rapin.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/magasinsdeco.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Henri-Rapin.jpg\" alt=\"Charlotte Perriand, une Fran\u00c3\u00a7aise au Pays du Soleil Levant Henri Rapin\"><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 1927, <em><strong>Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/em> aged 24 years old, she re design her own appartment, creating the univers of the \u201cBar sous le toit\u201d discovered at the exhibition of the Salon d\u2019Automne. The same year, she enter the atelier of Le Corbusier and Pierre Janneret, where she will stay a decade. This partnership is principaly in product design and will be deeply successfull culturaly and for the reputation of Le Corbusier and <strong><em>Charlotte Perriand<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.shop.mohd.it\/wysiwyg\/charlotte-perriand-chaise-longue.jpg\" alt=\"Charlotte Perriand, une Fran\u00c3\u00a7aise au Pays du Soleil Levant charlotte perriand chaise longue\"><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The top of this partnership will be in 1929 for the Salon d\u2019Automne when the trio shows off the design of the \u201cEquipement int\u00e9rieur d\u2019une habitation\u201d and re think the complete organisation of interior design. During this partnership, pieces like the Grand Confort Armchair, or the long Chair Corbu were created.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 869px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/magasinsdeco.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/10.lc4_LeCorbusier-859x613.jpg\" alt=\"Long Chair Corbu\" width=\"859\" height=\"613\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Long Chair Corbu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the mid-thirties, <em><strong>Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/em> join the left poilitical side by entering two organizations : the\u00a0Association des \u00c9crivains et Artistes R\u00e9volutionnaires and the\u00a0Maison de la Culture. In 1937, she puts an end to her relation with Le Corbusier, starts a partnership with Jeunes and creates the Union des Artistes Modernes. Her style becomes more natural and she starts to use raw materials that are more comfortable such as wood. Finally, the 8th of February 1940, she definitly break up with her industrial past when she receives a telegram offering her a position in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 3418px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/madparis.fr\/IMG\/jpg\/fp-coll-1030-1-11896-pv.jpg\" alt=\"Union des Artistes Modernes\" width=\"3408\" height=\"2568\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Union des Artistes Modernes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1>The Country of the Rising Sun<\/h1>\n<p>Invited by the Ministery of Business, and following a 8.30 meters long letter,\u00a0calligraphed by\u00a0Shik\u00f4 Munakata, <em><strong>Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/em> leave France for Japan. Her objective ? Opening the japaneese industry to Occident, creating industrial production standards. She is gonna be deeply influenced by the japaneese cultures and will profoundly influence it.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 1570px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hammer.ucla.edu\/fileadmin\/_processed_\/csm_MunakataCrop_0ba8944820.jpg\" alt=\"Shik\u00f4 Munakata\" width=\"1560\" height=\"2243\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Shik\u00f4 Munakata<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>5 months after the beggining of the 2nd World War, the 15th of June 1940, she go on board of the\u00a0Hakusan Maru from Marseille to Kob\u00e9. \u201cAt that time, Japan was like the Moon\u201d she said. She visits the first japaneese popular art museum created in 1936 by\u00a0Yanagi S\u00f4etsu : The\u00a0Mingeikan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 1546px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.peoplemakeplaces.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/MIN-1.jpg\" alt=\"The\u00a0Mingeikan\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1536\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">The\u00a0Mingeikan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the fall, <em><strong>Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/em> walk around the japaneese streets, discover the countryside, the landscapes, the culture and the japaneese craftmanship. She get her inspiration from the traditionnal japaneese technics. \u201cBe inspired by the real traditions doesn\u2019t mean reproducing them, but create new with fundamental laws. She advices Japaneese to avoid to reproduce stupidly occidental pieces and she creates the exhibition:\u00a0Contribution\u00a0\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipement int\u00e9rieur de l\u2019habitation.\u00a0Japon\u00a02601, using local materials such as bambu.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 1814px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/content\/dam\/luxury\/2017\/10\/23\/Charlotte-Perriand-Japon-1954-AChP_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqM3F4J5q1UP41khh_YGSE8gGXDRHiMZAKyKeJEB9Xulo.jpg\" alt=\"Charlotte Perriand in Japan\" width=\"1804\" height=\"2886\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Charlotte Perriand in Japan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/em> leaves Japan in 1941, just before the Pearl Harbor attack. She will definitly come back in France in 1946, soon after the war. However, her adventure with Japan isn\u2019t finished because she will come back in 1953 to design the house of her husband in Tokyo and in 1959 to design the new agency of AirFrance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 740px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.shop.mohd.it\/wysiwyg\/air-france-charlotte-perriand.jpg\" alt=\"Air France Offices\" width=\"730\" height=\"413\"><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Air France Offices<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During the Arts M\u00e9nager tradeshow in 1957, she shows off a \u201cJapaneese House\u201d, which is a clever mix of objects that she created and\u00a0S\u00f4ri Yanagi art works. It is at this occasion that she makes\u00a0Yanagi known in France. They are composed by aluminum and wood boxes and sliding doors. The differents sizes of the boxes are giving movement and dynamic to the piece.
