I equate it to why burlesque is so appealing: It\u2019s the slow reveal. If you walk out and expose everything, there is nothing left to discover.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the small galley kitchen, where <em>\u201ceverything is right there and you don\u2019t have to take too many steps,\u201d<\/em> says Erb, he refreshed the original steel cabinets with a coat of paint and updated the lighting. He also loves to entertain, and while the apartment may not be large, it more than accommodates a seated dinner for 10 as easily as a cocktail party for 50. <em>\u201cIt is amazing what you can do when you consider conversations,\u201d<\/em> says Erb in regard to fitting in those 50 guests. The furniture in the living room looks extravagant and untouchable, but it is all intended to be moved around, such as the antique tabouret stools that were transformed with hide upholstery and gold-leafed feet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/usa-ny?utm_source=brabbublog&amp;utm_medium=blogs&amp;utm_term=rpereira&amp;utm_content=articles&amp;utm_campaign=blogscontent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55801 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-05.jpg\" alt=\"Interior Designer Marshall Erb Opens The Doors To His Home\" width=\"750\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-05.jpg 750w, https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-05-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mismatched antique end tables and lamps flank the sofa, a move that Erb forces on himself because he tends to buy everything in pairs. <em>\u201cAsymmetry can make a space, but it has to be balanced,\u201d<\/em> he says.<em> \u201cForcing balance through scale, proportion and color is much more interesting.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/usa-ny?utm_source=brabbublog&amp;utm_medium=blogs&amp;utm_term=rpereira&amp;utm_content=articles&amp;utm_campaign=blogscontent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55797 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-01.jpg\" alt=\"Interior Designer Marshall Erb Opens The Doors To His Home\" width=\"750\" height=\"968\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-01.jpg 750w, https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-01-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-01-300x387.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Murano glass chandelier that Erb fell in love with and had restored was almost forced on the dining room, but when he brought it home, he realized the brutalist brass Tom Greene fixture he already had was the perfect t. e dramatic shadows it casts bounce o the ceiling and antiqued mirror screen, while an antique dining table creates an elegant yet moody atmosphere for Erb\u2019s frequent dinner parties. A series of cubist-inspired sketches in identical frames act as paneling, while sculptural art sits atop a column to add dimension.<em> \u201cI love to display art in different ways and play with depth and height,\u201d<\/em> says Erb.<em> \u201cToo many things hung on a wall is flat, so I\u2019m always on the lookout for a good column.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/usa-ny?utm_source=brabbublog&amp;utm_medium=blogs&amp;utm_term=rpereira&amp;utm_content=articles&amp;utm_campaign=blogscontent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55798 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-02.jpg\" alt=\"Interior Designer Marshall Erb Opens The Doors To His Home\" width=\"750\" height=\"831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-02.jpg 750w, https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-02-271x300.jpg 271w, https:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Interior-Designer-Marshall-Erb-Opens-The-Doors-To-His-Home-02-300x332.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bedroom was also taken to a new level by Witczak with a dramatic gallery wall. While the room started with the intense peacock-blue paint, it is the Walter Gropius tapestry-like fabric on the headboard that steals the show. <em>\u201cYou could never convince a client to do that, but it has all of these colors in it and just makes the room,\u201d<\/em> says Erb.
