They were our inspiration to write a list of 10 of the best interior designers based in New York<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thomas O\u2019Brien created Aero Studios<\/strong> in 1992 alongside William Sofield. Sofield left 3 years later and since then Thomas is the solo owner of the company. He is known for his \u201cwarm modernism\u201d and the way he mixes vintage and modern in his interior design. O\u2019Brien has established partnerships with many important American brands, even though his main focus lays on the design of private residences. He designed bath plumbing for Waterworks , textiles for Lee Jofa, tableware for Reed & Barton and designed a boutique for Empoio Armani, just to name a few.<\/p>\n

The Alex Papachristidis Interiors<\/strong> was created in 1987 under the name Anderson, Papachristidis Interiors<\/strong>,\u00a0a partnership between Alex Papachristidis and Leslie Anderson. When Anderson left in the mid nineties and after the joining of Antoinette Raeymaekers in 1996 (and her departure in 2004), Papachristidis became the only owner of the company. He is known for his modern eye and described as an eclectic traditionalist.<\/p>\n

The materials he uses come from different parts of the world such as South Africa, Switzerland and Brooklyn. He is the interior designer that decorated Robert Downey Jr.\u2019s house in the Hamptons.<\/p>\n
