After an amazing first day, the first part of the second day of LUXURY DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP SUMMIT<\/strong><\/em> began with a blast. With the presence of another luxurious panel, composed by\u00a0Serena Confalonieri<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Francesca Merciani<\/strong>, from\u00a0Dioppa<\/strong>\u00a0Firma<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>fashion designers\u00a0Storytailors<\/strong><\/em>, Alda Tomas, a Designer from\u00a0Vista Alegre<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Toni Grilo<\/strong><\/em>, a product designer. The panel, moderated by Essencial Lisboa\u2019s magazine editor and open media director, Fernando Caetano. The panel\u2019s goal is rather simple: to show everyone in the audience that the future of luxury design<\/strong> lies in the hands of craftsmen<\/strong> and women.<\/p>\n

\"DESIGN<\/a><\/p>\n

Serena Confalonieri, alongside Francesca Merciani, opened the talks by presenting the honourable organization they\u2019re representing:\u00a0Doppia Firma<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Presented by the\u00a0Michelangelo Foundation<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0for Creativity and Craftsmanship, Doppia Firma is a project by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d\u2019arte with Living Corriere della Sera, that provides a platform for a vibrant dialogue between the craftsperson and designer to develop new artworks that combine the finest m\u00e9tiers d\u2019art expertise and contemporary design culture.<\/p>\n

\"DESIGN<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Branco and Luis Sanchez created\u00a0Storytailors<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>in 2001 after finishing their Fashion Design studies at the Architecture College of Lisbon\u2019s Technical University. They met during 1996 while attending the same classes; during the course they realised that their aesthetic universes had a lot in common and that their ideas and opinions about fashion were complementary. They joined forces, matured ideas and decided to create a project with a name-concept that would reflect internationally their way of seeing and working fashion. Passion for History, fables and stories along with their fascination with garment construction, tailoring and fashion gathered two words into one, and thus\u00a0story<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0tailor<\/em>s became\u00a0Storytailors<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This Summit is truly the best way to celebrate Design and promote networking between the brightest influencers and industry\u2019s decision makers.<\/p>\n

Alda Tom\u00e1s<\/strong>, Vista Alegre\u2019s designer<\/strong><\/em>, showed us what the brand\u2019s work is about. from the finnest china to crystals and glass<\/strong>.\u00a0 Founded in 1824, the Vista Alegre Porcelain Factory was the first industrial unit dedicated to producing porcelain in Portugal.\u00a0The persistence of its founder, Jos\u00e9 Ferreira Pinto Basto<\/strong>, was\u00a0<\/span>instrumental<\/span>\u00a0to the\u00a0<\/span>launch<\/span>\u00a0and success of this daring enterprise.<\/span>\u00a0A landowner, audacious merchant and distinguished figure in Portuguese society at the time, Jos\u00e9 Ferreira Pinto Basto wisely adopted the liberal ideas of the 19th century, having become \u201cthe first example of free initiative\u201d in Portugal.<\/p>\n
