We have been very excited about this Design and Craftsmanship Summit<\/strong><\/em> developed by Covet Group<\/strong> aiming to celebrate the hands that creates art<\/strong>. After introducing Brhand Foundation<\/strong> to the world, Covet Group focused on honoring the prestige of ancient arts<\/strong> and crafts, by bringing together the oldest crafting techniques<\/strong> and contemporary designers<\/strong>! The first day of this on of a kind event, presented a lively debate were some of the most important names on the Design and Art in Portugal shared their experiences and how they became successful in their own journey.\u00a0The attendees had the opportunity to be surrounded by live handcrafted work, that are the result of pure dedication and meticulously daily effort and years of experience.<\/p>\n

The luxurious panel<\/strong> is composed by Nicole Segundo<\/strong>, from the Michelangelo Foundation<\/strong><\/em>, Fatima Santos<\/strong>, from Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Ourivesaria e Relojoaria Portuguesa<\/strong><\/em>, the portuguese Fashion Designer<\/strong><\/em> Lu\u00eds Onofre<\/strong> and Ant\u00f3nio Moura<\/strong>, an important developer in the luxury field<\/strong><\/em>. Moderated by the Covet Group\u2019s CEO, Am\u00e2ndio Pereira, this panel aims to trailblazer the path to tomorrow\u2019s luxury design business.<\/p>\n

METAL CASTING<\/strong><\/p>\n

The art of casting metals into a chosen shape and size. The process starts by melting metal into a liquid, pouring it in a mould with a cavity of the desired shape, and removing the material, or casting, after the final work gets cool and then solidified. The solidified part can be ejected or even broken out of the mould. This technique is one of the most used for making intricate forms that would be difficult to have from other methods.<\/p>\n

LEAF GILDING<\/strong><\/p>\n

The term gilding covers a number of decorative techniques for applying fine gold leaf or powder to solid surfaces such as wood, stone, or metal to give a thin coating of gold. Nowadays it is used to create and decor unique design pieces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

ARRAIOLOS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arraiolos rug, embroidered floor covering made at Arraiolos, north of \u00c9vora in Portugal. The technique is a form of crosstitch that completely covers the linen cloth foundation. Today, most rugs are made as a cottage industry by the women of Arraiolos.<\/p>\n

One of the oldest arts of humankind, the art of making sculptured ornaments in a wooden object creates undeniable beauty forms and shapes. From its natural look and textures, to highly polished and colored versions, wood has always been easily accessible and relatively easy to manipulate, attracting the interest of artists and designers over the years.<\/p>\n

AZULEJO<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most representative art forms of the Portuguese cultural heritage. The renowned blue hand painted tiles reflect a tradition used for hundreds of years. Azulejo is usually a clay or ceramic plate piece, generally with a square shape decorated with glazed colorful designs<\/strong>, and repeated hundreds to a few thousand times.<\/p>\n

FILIGREE<\/strong><\/p>\n

A delicate kind of jewellery metalwork. There is a new generation of artisans and designers who are dedicated to creating beautiful pieces of jewellery that combine contemporary design with the ancient art of filigree.<\/p>\n
