London based architecture practice William Matthews Associates<\/strong><\/em> together with\u00a0civil engineers Ney & Partners<\/i><\/b>\u00a0have won the English Heritage competition<\/strong><\/em> for the footbridge on Cornwall\u2019s breathtaking Tintagel Castle<\/strong><\/em> site with its amazing modern architecture<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The winning design beat off stiff competition from 136 other entries from all across Europe with a footbridge in one\u00a0of the UK\u00a0most spectacular historic sites that\u00a0attracts some 200,000 visitors annually.<\/p>\n

Instead of opting for a standard bridge crossing, this footbridge is designed as two independent cantilevers that reach out and almost touch in the middle.<\/p>\n
