Barneys New York\u00a0finally returns to Chelsea\u00a0via a sprawling, four-floor flagship store on Seventh Avenue that guarantees to improve the shopping in New York<\/a><\/em><\/strong> experience.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0feels surprisingly warm and inviting and it\u2019s significantly less overwhelming than the grand maze that is the uptown flagship store, turning the shopping in NYC\u00a0experience into something much more relaxing and luxurious.<\/p>\n

Barneys Chelsea is the new Whitney: a tight selection that\u2019s able to be seen and enjoyed in its entirety in a much smaller block of time, but if you want to stay longer there are a lot of good reasons to do so , especially since they also added a Fred\u2019s restaurant for refueling.<\/p>\n

Barneys tapped New York firm Steven Harris Architects to oversee the design. Outside the store, a 170-ft stainless steel marquee runs along the 7th Avenue fa\u00e7ade and around the corner onto the 16th Street side. It has two feature windows that will serve as prime staging opportunities for Barney\u2019s renowned window displays.<\/p>\n

Shifting inside the luxury shop<\/a>, a stunning white spiral staircase in the atrium serves as the space\u2019s centerpiece, connecting the foundation level to the third floor.

According to the architect Steven Harris, \u2018The store is completely unique compared to any other store downtown. It is subtle but inordinately luxurious,\u2019. \u2018We wanted to create a calm and tranquil environment with a neutral, but richly varied, color palette that truly highlights the merchandise.\u2019<\/p>\n

The store itself is beautiful, with mirrored stainless steel columns, marble-lined walls, plush carpeting in the shoe salons and ready-to-wear departments, and brass tables and velvet seats sprinkled throughout.<\/p>\n
