Interior design trends<\/em>: <\/strong>fantastic animals at the upper end of collectible design, and with a wealth of abstract animals, cardboard hunting trophies, neo-totems, and ceramic robots in between, designers are offering quite some choice of things to collect dust on one\u2019s fireplace or shelf in the years to come.<\/p>\n

Interior Design Trends:\u00a0<\/strong>Korean home design<\/em>, until recently completely unknown in the West, has been the star of this year\u2019s Maison et Objet<\/em>. With an unmatched craftsmanship and a surprising and refreshing aesthetic, Korean craftsmen and designers are bringing a breath of fresh air to high-end furnishings and decorative arts \u2013 particularly strong are the ceramics, and artefacts in wood.<\/p>\n

2016 trends:<\/em><\/strong> this travel toothbrush, which cleans teeth without the need for a toothpaste, was a star of the fair, with many visitors stocking up on free samples. The Misoka Travel Toothbrush cleans teeth only with water, thanks to the special minerals that the brush hairs contain. The appeal is obvious for those who travel frequently.<\/p>\n

Home decoration<\/em> trends:<\/strong> If there is one thing we will definitely see more of in the coming years, it is new synthetic and natural materials, used in everything from furniture to lighting and jewelry. Black cork (pictured); a new blend of resin and plaster called Jesmonite and used by Pinch in a low table; Corian, used in benches by Made in Ratio; or PMMA (a form of plexiglas) used to create benches and consoles by Luxis, all for your living room design<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Home decoration<\/em> trends:<\/strong> (Left picture) A traditional lamp consists of a source of light, and a fabric lampshade to soften, magnify, and disperse the light. There is a notable trend, however, towards the use of wood instead: sometimes as a mesh or grid instead of a shade, but more recently also as a single, flat surface, off which the light simply reflects. (Center picture) Designers are rethinking the long-neglected humble vase in a number of ways this year. New kinds of waterproof paper have been used by brands such as Octaevo to create soft, foldable vases in bright colors.<\/p>\n

From the animal-shaped consoles, lamps, and shelves, to the animal figurines, faux hunting trophies, biomorphic chairs, and tapestries everywhere, the natural world is being welcomed into our houses with a renewed vigor.<\/p>\n
