Perkins and Will

Perkins+Will intend to preserve the cultures and characteristics inherent to that place, with studios spread all over the United States, Europe – London and Denmark, Brazil and Shanghai, China. Located in the Nomad Tower, NYC, at the centre of a dynamic neighbourhood in the heart of the city, Perkins+Will studio in New York is a laboratory for new ways of collaborating, visualising and producing responsive and exciting design solutions for their clients.

Perkins+Will‘s goal for their NYC studio is that of a laboratory, where designers can both predict and react to behavioural, cultural and technological change.

Projects Done by Perkins+Will NYC

1.Swarovski New York Showroom and Office

Perkins+Will NYC worked side-by-side with Swarovski to create hidden and protective storage for the thousands of loose crystals that needed to be within arms-length, but also beautifully concealed when not in use. The Studio also created a visual backdrop showcasing the brand’s innovative journey that transforms the space. The design celebrates the Swarovski legacy by creating moments of discovery at every turn.

2.799 Broadway

799 Broadway, located in the Greenwich Village, was renovated by Perkins+Will that created a new paradigm for contemporary, future-forward workplaces in New York City. The space is open and airy, ideal for a wide range of work functions and styles.

3.Nixon Peabody NY Office

Nixon Peabody tasked Perkins+Will with a clear design objective to break the norms of traditional design, promoting employee creativity and engagement within a vibrant, open, loft-like environment. The design team went right to work, deploying a consensus driven decision-making process collecting input from attorneys, managers, and leadership in order to plan and design a workplace solution supported by all.

4.Cornell Univeristy Upson Hall

Perkins+Will created a visually transparent, dynamic, and connected engineering building. Close collaboration with students and administrators showed that future flexibility was a critical requirement. This is addressed with the use of modular planning concepts which allows all spaces to be modified with the evolution of programs and curricula.

5.Guardian Life Global Headquarters

Perkins+Will was commissioned to create a new workplace that would actively engage Guardian Life‘s customers and employees. The Studio’s approach leveraged Guardian’s brand and culture to create a bespoke workplace that balances office efficiency with world-class amenities to promote a memorable user experience. These amenities include a business lounge, a cafeteria with a full cooking kitchen, a multi-purpose town hall, tech bars, as well as broadcast spaces.

6.Viacom Multi-floor Buildout

Viacom wanted a workplace that would create conversations and culture. Perkins+Will took influences from iconic New York City loft spaces and working with Viacom’s design standards, created a workplace that celebrates Viacom as well as embrace the exterior views offered at 115 Broadway.

7.NYU Langone 222 East 41st Street

NYU Langone is one of New York‘s premier academic medical centres, and they were on the look out to build an outpatient facility in mid-town Manhattan. The needs of a bustling outpatient centre sparked Perkins+Will planning and design objectives by emphasising views to the outside and access to daylight throughout all public spaces and numerous corridors.

8.New York City Police Academy

The New York City Department of Design & Construction engaged Perkins+Will’s team to design a consolidated campus to serve all 50,000 members of the New York City Police Department. Training police recruits has emerged as a focus in major U.S. cities, with fast-evolving considerations of public safety, community outreach, and technology adoption.

9.Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Laboratory Medicine Building

Demand in recent years for advanced cancer treatment services has increased Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s patient volume, therefore nearly doubling the need for laboratory testing services. Perkins+Will worked extensively with the clinical users during the planning phases to identify efficiencies in their workflow and compact the layout of equipment and tools to save time, increase accuracy, and create maximum flexibility and ease of lab reconfiguration in the future.

10.Häfele New York Showroom

Häfele is a German hardware company with a long tradition of quality and fine engineering. When the lease expired for its Manhattan showroom, the wish was to design something new that clearly illustrated the brand, while serving its different audiences—architects and designers, residential consumers, and cabinetmakers.
