Laurent Maugoust launched his company in 2003, working for almost over a decade with Jean-Philippe Nuel as artistic director and agency manager. Later on, he acquired a perfect mastery of high-end decoration by designing and managing large-scale projects on an international scale.
Laurent Maugoust’s interest is towards places steeped in history, where he can create personal projects in which he strives to develop his own creative language. So it is no wonder that Laurent Maugoust was invited to design Hotel Victor Hugo, a four-star hotel located at the heart of Paris.
Between the ChampsElysées and the Arc de Triomphe, Hotel Victor Hugo stands aa a beautiful Art Deco building. Inside it, an Art-Deco environment blends with contemporary style, giving to its hosts the right vibes for a comfortable stay. The charming entrance of the hotel invites everyone to meet the modern contemporary design of BRABBU.
In 2018, Laurent Maugoust‘s studio was looking for the best furniture products to furnish this hotel at the richest and fancy quarter of the French Capital, the 16th Quarter.
The Maya civilization had maize as one of the primary elements of their culture. Personified as a woman, Maya’s Maize God was the inspiration behind MAYA Upholstered Chair. With legs in matte aged brass, this velvet chair has the sensual and delicate forms of the goddess, making it the perfect seating solution for an elegant living room set.
The studio found the Covet Paris Showroom, a place full of world top luxury brands, showcasing a wide range of products within mid-century, modern, contemporary, and classic styles. Inside the Showroom, a brand stood out for the studio: BRABBU with timeless design products inspired by nature, the cosmopolitan lifestyle, and culture. The studio could not think of better options to create an exclusive reception décor, after finding the MAYA Armchair and KOI Side Table.
Koi Carp is a recurring symbol of Japanese culture. Its natural colour mutations reveal their capacity to adapt, just like KOI Side Table. With a base in brushed aged brass and a top in marble, this round side table will add refined elegance to any modern interior design.
The entrance of the Hotel Victor Hugo is composed of a black art-deco inspired screen in a floral pattern, that fits very well with the contemporary design and colour of the two yellow MAYA Velvet Armchairs. The final touch through the modern design of the KOI Side Table.
This entrance, where completely opposed inspirations are linked and complement each other, is the indubitable argument where one cannot be afraid of taking risks and combine an infinite choice of styles.
