Ken Fulk, one of the best American interior designers, has been creating talk-of-the-town residences in Silicon Valley for more than two decades. It is the case of a model residence he designed for The Harrison, a recently opened 298-unit luxury condominium building in the SOMA neighbourhood of San Francisco.
The Harrison calls its lobby the Grand Salon for a good reason – due to its gorgeous cerused-oak walls and built-in shelves. The real showstopper, though, is the exquisite floor, which was inspired by Fulk’s trip to India. “I saw all these intricate, beautiful patterns in palaces. They felt old yet modern,” he says. The shiny patchwork floor in this space is made up of three different types of marble.

Drop-dead views of the Bay Bridge take centre stage in the luxury living room of The Harrison’s model residence. Ken Fulk chose a neutral palette to allow for better appreciation of the breathtaking panoramas.
In this contemporary living room decor, he wanted the beauty inside to rival the beauty outside. “The default would have been to make it all about the view,” he says. “Instead, I wanted a space to live up to it.”

In this modern dining room, a tiger-print wingback chair and vintage leather dining chairs allude to the past safari adventures of the club’s namesake.
Moody sumptuousness reigns in this master bedroom decor thanks to chocolate suede wallpaper, a high-end and sophisticated bed, a pair of graceful lamps, and a vintage armchair covered in orange fabric.
Fulk is a fan of mixing metals. In the galley kitchen, which is lined with custom grey cabinets, a brass Waterworks gooseneck faucet and brass cabinet pull from Rejuvenation play nice with the stainless-steel appliances.
The bath echoes the design of the kitchen—brass hardware paired with grey cabinets and marble counters. “I certainly had a character in mind when I designed this space,” says Fulk. “I wanted to represent the explorer, the adventurer in all of us.”
