St. Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated around the world by millions and this is the most widely acknowledged patron saint of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. It is became an official feast day for the Catholic church in the beginning of the 17th Century.

The landscape doesn’t escape from the festivities either, as over 100 monuments, including the Christ the Redeemer statue towering over the Brazilian city of Rio de Janiero, are cast in green light, and waterways, such as the Chicago River, are dyed an emerald colour.
