At Milan Design Week 2013 Kartell has presented “Aunts and Uncles” collection at Salone Internazionale del Mobile the past week. The collection was developed by French designer Philippe Starck. According to manufacturer Kartell, in this collection it was used the world’s largest single-piece injection molding.
Philippe Starck got inspiration for the collection on where his aunts and uncles used to sit. The collection is a minimalist technological version of the armchairs and sofas used by them when they were smoking their pipes or knitting by the fireplace telling stories to the family.
Each member of the “Aunts and Uncles” collection, for Italian brand Kartell, is made of polycarbonate and has been created using single-mold injection technology.
The furniture includes the Uncle Jack sofa, the Uncle Jim armchair, the Uncle Jo chair, the Aunt Jamy table and the Aunt Maggy console.
Each piece of the collection comes in a range of colours.
